Install geteduroam APP

1.

The first step is to download the geteduroam app from the App Store:
-> https://apps.apple.com/de/app/geteduroam/id1504076137

All security settings and the certificate are set up automatically via the app.

Then open the app

Configure eduroam via APP

When opening for the first time, search for"Bielefeld" in the search field and select Bielefeld University.

The personal login details are now entered here:

User name:
-> BITS-Loginname@uni-bielefeld.de

Password:
-> BITS password (network password)

 

Then click on Log in .

5.

Go to Allow.

6.

Connectivity is established via Connect.

The app can now be closed.

The app was only used to set up the WLAN. As a rule, the smartphone will then automatically connect to eduroam.

Remove WLAN profile / Troubleshooting

When setting up/connecting with geteduram, the error

Connection failed
cannot modify system configuration.

is displayed.

Cause:
Outdated profile or a profile from another/former educational institution.

 

Solution:

1.
iOS settings > General > VPN & device management. Delete all profiles with eduroam there.

2.
Display Wi-Fi networks > (i) for eduroam > "Ignore this network".

3.
Set up eduroam again via geteduroam.
