    Exhibition at the Historical Museum

until 31 December, in the Forum of the Historical Museum, at the ZiF, in the University Main Buildung (UHG) and other locations in the city

The centrepiece of the exhibition "How Freedom Creates Knowledge" is the Forum of the Historical Museum. What is academic freedom anyway? How were and are researchers restricted in their work? What are the consequences? These questions are addressed using specific historical and contemporary stories. On the other hand, are there also good reasons to restrict the freedom of science? What happens when research contributes to robbing freedom? The exhibition also looks at this perspective. In addition, six external locations shed light on the relationship between science, freedom and society on site and in people's everyday lives.

Exhibition: Elmgreen & Dragset | Who we are. miteinander gegenüber #12

Exhibition from 30.11.24 to 23.02.25 at the Kunsthalle Bielefeld

The twelfth edition of the series "facing each other" focuses on the central question of the different characteristics, faces and attitudes that characterise a person or an institution such as the Kunsthalle. In this juxtaposition, a work by the Scandinavian artist duo Elmgreen & Dragset (Michael Elmgreen, *1961 and Ingar Dragset, *1969) from the Haubrok Collection meets several works from the Kunsthalle Bielefeld's current collection exhibition. Who are we? What characterises us or something? How do we recognise the specific characteristics of a person or an institution like the Kunsthalle?
