Medial Dispositives of Comparing: The Operative Image according to Harun Farocki
Drawing on the work of Harun Farocki and his concept of the operative image, this project investigates the transition from human to posthuman practices of comparing in 20th and 21st -century digital visual culture. Here, the central research topic focuses on the ways in which the image-scientific concept of comparative seeing are also subject to new formation under the conditions of partially algorithmically determined practices of image search, image distribution, image processing and image use.
