A new multi-storey car park with a green facade and a high-performance photovoltaic system on the roof is being built at Bielefeld University. In doing so, the Bau- und Liegenschaftsbetrieb des Landes Nordrhein-Westfalen (BLB NRW) is setting an example for sustainability. Work on the first construction phase has already started with the demolition of the existing multi-storey car park 1 on the campus.
The new multi-storey car park will be built in two phases on the sites of the existing multi-storey car parks 1 and 2. With a length of 130 metres and a width of 70 metres, the new multi-storey car park will have six levels throughout. The car park will have space for a total of 1,600 cars. There will also be 100 covered parking spaces for bicycles.
