With the R4 building in the second row behind the Z building on the Konsequenz, Bielefeld University is creating future office space for the Medical School OWL. A special feature of the building is the highest energy standard of the university's new buildings to date: the R4 building will meet the passive house standard.
The R4 building has a total area of 3732 square metres (usable area 1-6) and will be equipped, among other things, with a green roof and a photovoltaic system. The general contractor commissioned is the construction company Kleusberg, which has already constructed Building Z in 2018 and the extension Z2 for Bielefeld University in 2020.
The start date of the construction work is planned for early 2024. Building R4 is scheduled for completion in Q1 2025.
